Capturing carbon at Stora Enso Skutskär unit – on the way to climate positive production
Stora Enso’s Skutskär biomaterials production site in central Sweden focuses on the production of fluff pulp for absorbent products such as diapers and other daily needed hygiene products, as well as producing innovative biomaterials using all parts of a tree. The site has a long history of continuously reducing the environmental footprint of its operations and products, and for five years Skutskär biomaterials production site has not used fossil fuels in its operations. The next step towards climate positive operations in Skutskär is the start of a pilot for capturing biogenic CO2 from pulp production.

Sweden’s largest grocery retailer cuts down on plastic by introducing PureFiber™ Horti Trays by Stora Enso
ICA Sweden is taking a step towards a more sustainable flower industry by replacing traditional plastic trays for flowers with molded fiber trays from Stora Enso. The transition to the molded fiber tray means a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions in the long term. By replacing a polystyrene tray with a wood fiber tray, CO₂ emissions are reduced by up to 81%.
